DIVERSITY BUSINESS CONFERENCE DEBUTS IN LOS ANGELES
Promoting Collaboration and Economic Success Strategies for Small Businesses
Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) - Sponsored by some of America’s top corporations, the Turning Point Urban Business Summit & Expo 2008 will take place from June 25 - 27, 2008 at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Hosted by the TPC Foundation, Inc, and building upon the successful decade-long African American Business Summit, the conference targets diverse and minority owned, operated or focused small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Turning Point Urban Business Summit and Expo 2008 attracts successful business owners and entrepreneurs from all backgrounds and affiliations who are looking to grow. Cross-cultural collaboration, business development, networking and resource sharing will thrive in this unique two-day conference. Small to medium business attendees from across the United States and around the globe will connect with corporate and government representatives. According to the US Census, African American, Asian, Latino and other diverse Americans will account for a whopping 80% of the United States population growth over the next 20 years and in 2007, women owned over half the businesses in the United States. The conference and expo will feature such key influencers in business, sports and entertainment as co-owners of the Los Angeles Sparks organization Carla J. Christofferson and Katherine E. June 25, 2008: Preceding the conference, the TPC Foundation, Inc. will host their 5th annual golf tournament at the Malibu Country Club. Proceeds raised will support the SmartStart Youth Financial Literacy Program.
June 26, 2008: David Latimore, President of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, will deliver the keynote luncheon at the Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles Hotel. California businesses that have been accepted into the ICIC’s Inner City 100, a group of the nation’s top urban entrepreneurs, will be recognized.
June 27, 2008: In addition to a full day of business sessions and expo, the conference will host a historic closing night reception at the Sheraton Hotel, celebrating the diversity of the state and its leadership. Titled Leaders and Visionaries: A Salute to the Speakers of the California State Assembly, the reception will honor seven Speakers of the Assembly. Honorees include Willie Brown, Cruz Bustamante, Antonio Villaraigosa, Robert Hertzberg, Herb Wesson, Fabian Nunez, and newly elected Karen Bass, the first African American woman to hold the position.
