About Mary Mary: Erica and Tina Campbell are Mary Mary, two real-life sisters who have brought revolutionary R&B, urban and hip-hop elements to the world of contemporary gospel music.

Growing up in Inglewood, California, Erica and Tina first sang publicly in the local church choir and received their first break in 1998 with a song on the “Prince of Egypt” soundtrack. In 2000, Mary Mary’s platinum debut album, Thankful–featuring the hit “Shackles (Praise You)”–earned numerous awards including a Grammy for Best Contemporary Gospel Album and three Dove Awards, six Stellar Awards, a Lady of Soul Award, a Soul Train Award. Incredible, their second album, became the nation’s #1 Top Christian Album in 2002 and featured the Dove Award-winning hits “In The Morning” and “Thank You,” featuring Kirk Franklin.

While Erica and Tina took a break after recording their second album to start–and spend time with–their respective families, the platinum-selling duo found the time to bring their exuberant gospel soul sounds down new avenues, including an appearance in the 2003 musical comedy, “The Fighting Temptations,” and performances in Africa. In November 2005, Mary Mary took home the coveted American Music Awards trophy in the Contemporary Inspirational Music category, adding to a growing collection of critical and popular kudos that includes a Grammy and numerous other awards. The Grammy-winning R&B/gospel duo Mary Mary crossed over into Top 10 pop territory when the group’s self-titled new album, released in July 2005, debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 best-selling album chart, the highest Top 200 chart position in the group’s career. (Mary Mary’s previous albums–2000’s Thankful and 2002’s Incredible–peaked at #59 and #20, respectively.) When the album subsequently debuted at #1 on the Billboard Gospel album sales chart, the album became the best-selling Gospel debut of 2005. “Heaven,” the first single from Mary Mary, made history as it broke chart records, most notably an unprecedented 9 week run as the #1 record on Billboard’s Gospel Radio chart. “Heaven” was also a #1 R&R Gospel Radio Single and hit the #3 slot on the Billboard Bubbling Under – Hot R&B Singles chart.” Yesterday,” the second single from Mary Mary, became a Top 10 record on Billboard’s R&B Adult Airplay chart and is Mary Mary’s biggest hit on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart since “Shackles (Praise You).” The song also reached #4 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under – Hot R&B Singles chart.

GOT SUPERFOODS? WHY YOU NEED THEM

GOT SUPERFOODS? WHY YOU NEED THEM By Makeisha Lee, Health and Nutritional Advisor

The institution of superfoods is a technological advance that allows those of us wanting to make healthier eating choices the ability to do so, without sacrificing good nutrition. In fact, consuming superfoods actually enhances our levels of nutritional intake. Let’s discuss exactly what they are, and why we need them.

Superfoods are a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, fiber and essential amino acids; usually in powdered or liquid form.

This food technology is needed due to conditions with regards to the food supply in America. The food we eat is grown on soil that is severely depleted of vital minerals and nutrients necessary to sustain good health.

Superfoods, give us all the opprotunity to regain the health that our grandparents and their parents once experienced. This is achieved easily through eating superfoods, since they have live enzymes that are crucial and very necessary for every function within the cells.

We are in a time where we have become too dependant on cooked foods and should understand that when food is cooked over 100 degress faranheit, destruction of phytonutrients, loss of protein, and loss of digestive enzymes all occur. If you use the microwave you basically destroy all nutrients within seconds. What is left are foods that are void of anything substantial for our bodies to assimilate nutritionally. They don’t call it nuking – for nothing!

On the other hand, refrigeration of superfoods provides us the ability to transport great fruits, vegetables, exotic foods and more, without losing any of the natural enzymes, minerals or any other compounds. Here are 5 useful ones commonly found in various formulations:

1) Brown Rice Bran: contains vitamins, minerals, insoluble fiber which cleanse intestines and lowers blood cholesterol

2) Beet Juice Powder: antioxidants that reduce accumulation of plaque in arteries, cancer resisting properties and helps blood circulation

3) Cilantro: aids in the secretion gastric juices and contain essentialoils that have antibacterial properties that can be used as a fungicide

4) Chlorella Algae: is freshwater algae that has been around for 2.5 billion years that has the ability to transport vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, hormones and more throughout the body.

5) Probiotic Cultures: they are friendly bacteria that help digestion and work simultaneously with the immune system to keep us all healthy.

Countless studies reveal that certain foods are nutritional powerhouses that can actually extend your health span. These formulations are power packed and ready to go to save of us all time due to such busy lives we lead.

Moreover, it is virtually impossible for people to eat the right mix of fruits, vegetables and other foods on their own every single day.

Our children too are starving for the correct balance of nutrition in appropriate servings of fruits and veggies. We owe it to them to give them a fighting chance to build their bodies up with these superior foods.

That is why implementing superfoods in the entire family’s diet is not only necessary for optimal health, but very practical. Too many of us are stressed out, and a large portion obese because of the rat race to where we are just eating quick fix foods on the go that hold little to no value. Trust that Superfoods are invaluable in the role they play in fighting chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, depression and many more.

One final thought is that an ideal formulation should always offer, first and foremost, powerful cleansing properties that will rid your body of impurities that have accumulated through the years. Superfoods are the fuel of life, so get on with yours and don’t leave home without them!
