PLATINUM-SELLING GOSPEL TRIO TRIN-E-TEE 5:7 TO HEADLINE GOSPEL ARTISTS PERFORMING AT THIS YEAR’S BLACK CHURCH INSTITUTE FOR HIV/AIDS AND OTHER HEALTH DISPARITIES

Trio to Perform During The Balm In Gilead’s National HIV/AIDS Conference for Black Churches in Hilton Head Island October 23-26, 2007

Richmond, VA (BlackNews.com) - The platinum-selling Gospel Trio Trin-e-tee 5:7, will be the featured Gospel artists closing out the Balm In Gilead’s 7th annual Black Church Institute for HIV/AIDS and Other Health Disparities October 23-26 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The trio, currently promoting their new CD, T57, will perform Friday October 26 at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort –the host hotel for this year’s Black Church Institute. T57, released September 18th, on Mathew Knowles’ Gospel division Spirit Rising Music label, is the songbirds’ first musical release after a four-year hiatus.

“We are pleased to be a part of this year’s Balm In Gilead Black Church Institute,” said the group’s Adrian Anderson. “The African-American community is so disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Therefore, we are simply doing our part by supporting the Balm In Gilead in its mission of helping the faith community get the training and support it needs to stop these diseases plaguing our community.”

The Black Church Institute on HIV/AIDS and Other Health Disparities brings together African-American church leaders and representatives from across the country to enhance and strengthen their capacity to address HIV/AIDS, as well as other diseases that are disproportionately affecting African Americans such as cervical cancer and Hepatitis C. Other Gospel artists performing at this year’s Institute include: Richard D’Abreu, Charlene Moore and the young violinist Daniel Davis. D’Abreu is a pioneer in the music he calls “jazz in the spirit,” a completely new style of music that is a direct musical hybrid, or “child” of its parents, gospel and jazz. He has performed with several well-known performers in both gospel and jazz circles, including the late Max Roach, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, Bishop T.D. Jakes, the Boston Pops Orchestra, Dr. Bobby Jones, and others. Charlene Moore is the musician for the Living Springs Christian Fellowship in Pleasant Hill, CA.

Ms. Moore also serves as Musical Director of The Mass Choir of the City of Refuge United Church of Christ in San Francisco, under the leadership of Bishop Yvette Flunder. Along with other accomplishments, she is a featured soloist on the soon to be released CD by Chris & Chubby (Bay Area Gospel Rap Group).

This year’s Black Church Institute will include keynotes and workshop sessions from religious leaders who represent some of the nation’s top historical denominations and institutions. Other speakers include: Rev. Dr. Stephen Thurston, president, National Baptist Convention of America and senior pastor, New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL; Rev. Dr. Claude Alexander, senior pastor, University Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC; and, Keith Rawlings, medical director, Peabody Health Center, Dallas, TX; In addition, the conference will feature an unprecedented session led by the Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr., senior pastor emeritus of The Riverside Church in The City of New York along with his brothers Drs. David C. Forbes and Ronald O. Forbes and his sister Anna Forbes Towns. This renowned family will host a plenary on A Comprehensive, Spiritual Approach to Effectively Addressing HIV/AIDS; George Roberts, PhD, Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA; Rev. Dr. Renita Weems, Teacher of Spiritual Insight; and Bev. Smith, host, “The Bev Smith Show,” American Urban Radio.
